Visitor Control and ID

Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach and Detachment Visitor Control Centers (VCCs) are responsible for the issuance of DBIDS and special events access credentials that provide base access for visitors and contractors.  They can also support access for Veterans with Veterans Health Identification Cards (VHICs).

With the exception of a separate DEERS facility at Detachment Norco, Seal Beach installations do not have the capability to support the issuance of CAC cards for military personnel, family members, DoD civilians or retirees.  Visit the RAPIDS ID Card Center online to find a DEERS office near you.

Visitor Access

All visitors must have a military sponsor, and sponsors are required to initiate the access process through their respective Visitor Control Center.  Sponsors take responsibility for verifying and authorizing an applicant’s need for access to an installation. Visitors cannot request base access by themselves. The following personnel may be sponsors:

  • Common Access Card (CAC) holders including Active Duty, Guard and Reserve personnel and DoD civilian employees
  • Military family members 18 years of age and older

DBIDS card holders and Veterans Health Identification Card holders are not authorized to sponsor visitors.

For unescorted access to the installation, all visitors are required to complete a DBIDS pre-enrollment form (https://dbids-global-enroll.dmdc.mil/preenrollui/#/landing-page) or SECNAV Form 5512/1 with assistance from their sponsor (person or organization who invited the guest).

Sponsors must reach out to the respective Visitor Control Center for step-by-step directions for access. The request process must be initiated by the sponsor in person or via email. Expect a response within 24 business hours. Emails received on Friday after 1200 will receive a reply on the following Monday.
