Community Relations

NAWS China Lake has a good relationship with the three counties it occupies: Kern, Inyo and San Bernardino. It also partners with its closest neighbor, the City of Ridgecrest, in an effort to improve the quality of life of the men and women, military and civilian, who work onboard the Station and to sustain the missions of all the commands stationed at China Lake.

We value the community's support and feel that community relations is necessary to maintain a positive relationship. We do this by by participating in and hosting various events, such as Armed Forces Day or the bi-annual job fairs held at the installation, providing installation tours to local school children, sending out our Sailors, Marines, fire fighters and policemen to local schools, allowing organizations and individuals to use our land for recreation, and preserving and providing tours of one of the largest collections of Indian rock art in the Western Hemisphere.

NAWS China Lake also actively participates in multiple local organizational meetings to maintain partnerships, address community concerns and uphold stewardship.  Examples include: Civilian/Military Affairs Committee, Restoration Advisory Board, Native American Tribal Liaison meetings, China Lake Alliance and Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce.
