Emergency Services

Naval Air Station Lemoore’s Fire Department protects the fleet, fighters and families on base.  With a day-time population of about 12,000, NAS Lemoore is considered the fourth largest “city” in Kings County.

A minimum of 16 firefighters are on duty 24 hours per day, seven days a week at the installations two fire stations.

The Operations side fire station, Station Sixty-two, is responsible for protecting the pilots who fly some 250 F/A-18 fighter jets based at NAS Lemoore. Those pilots conduct more than 210,000 aircraft operations annually. Station Sixty-two also responds to calls throughout the operational area including the five hangars where the squadrons call home.

On the Administrative side of the base, Fire Station Sixty-One is responsible for responding to calls in the installation’s housing area, Akers and Neutra Elementary Schools, the barracks and everywhere else on the south side of the base.

The department operates a fleet of six firefighting vehicles, including three aircraft rescue and firefighting trucks, two engines and one quintuple combination pumper. In addition, the department operates one Haz-Mat vehicle, three basic life support (BLS) ambulances, a mobile aircraft firefighting device and a fire safety house.
