The Naval Base San Diego Public Works Department (PWD) funds maintenance and repair for base facilities including buildings, roads, grounds, and piers. The Public Works Officer's area of responsibility includes Naval Base San Diego, Naval Medical Center San Diego, 1220 Pacific Highway Compound, and Broadway Compound. The PWD is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 430 facilities with a combined plant replacement value of more than $4.5 Billion. The PWD initiates and oversees service to 177 tenant commands as well as over 50 homeported ships. Its goal is to provide the best possible facilities services in support of the fleet.
