Captain Jeff Yackeren

Captain Jeff Yackeren is a native of Darien, New York. He is the son of Frank and Daryl Yackeren and was commissioned in 1999 through the Enlisted Commissioning Program at the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  He also earned a master’s degree in National and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College.

As a submarine warfare officer, he commanded USS ALABAMA (SSBN-731)(BLUE) in Bangor, WA, completing two patrols and a year-long ship modernization.

His assignments at sea include service on the staff of Carrier Strike Group Three, embarked aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72), USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN-736)(BLUE) as Executive Officer during an Engineered Refueling Overhaul and subsequent certification and return to strategic service. USS ALEXANDRIA (SSN-757) as Combat Systems Officer, completing two CENTCOM deployments and an ICEX. USS PROVIDENCE (SSN-719) as a junior officer, completing two CENTCOM deployments supporting Tomahawk strikes for Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.

Ashore he served as COMSUBPAC Submarine Operations Officer, COMSUBSOUTH NATO Submarine Operations Officer during Operation ODYSSEY DAWN and COMSUBDEVRON TWELVE Unmanned Undersea Vehicles/Distributed Sensors Officer.
 
Capt Yackeren is married to Kelly of 29 years and has two sons, Hunter and Hayden.
