Captain Daniel "DB" Brown

Captain Daniel Brown is a native of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He earned his commission in December 2000 via Officer Candidate School and was designated a Naval Aviator in June 2002. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

CAPT Brown served as the N8/9 Assistant Chief of Staff (ACOS) at Commander, Third Fleet before taking command of Naval Base Ventura County, June 2024. Additional operational assignments include Commanding Officer of the Wolfpack of Helicopter Maritime Strike (HSM) Squadron 75, the Battle Cats of HSM-73 and the Saberhawks of HSM-77 flying the MH-60R. He was also a member of the Wolfpack of Helicopter Light Anti-Submarine (HSL) Squadron 45 flying the SH-60B. He deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.

CAPT Brown served ashore as an MH-60R instructor for the Seahawks of HSM-41. Additionally, he served as an Action Officer, Joint Staff, J-39 Directorate. During this tour, he directly supported the Joint Information Operations Warfare Center and deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and Operation RESOLUTE SUPPORT.

CAPT Brown has accumulated over 3200 flight hours. His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Air Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), as well as various unit and campaign decorations.
