Jeffry S. Findlay

Commander Jeffry S. Findlay, callsign “Lou,” a native of Wakefield, Mass., enlisted into the Navy on August 1, 1996. After deploying across the globe on Frigates, Destroyers, and Cruisers, then AW2 (AW/NAC) Findlay was selected for the Broaden Opportunity Officer Selection Training (BOOST) in Newport, R.I. After BOOST, MIDN Findlay obtained an undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the University of San Diego.

ENS Findlay reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination in March of 2004. At the conclusion of advanced jet training at NAS Meridian, Mississippi, he was designated a Naval Aviator in 2006 and selected for the Strike-Fighter pipeline. LTJG Findlay began his training in the F/A-18E/F at VFA-122 onboard NAS Lemoore, Calif., and subsequently joined VFA-2, the Bounty Hunters (Bullets).

As a Lieutenant with the Bullets, he completed deployments aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom in 2008 and Operations Enduring Freedom and New Dawn in 2010. LT Findlay was then assigned to VFA-122, the Flying Eagles, as an Instructor Pilot in 2011. Following his tour, he was selected as the U.S. 6th Fleet/Naval Striking and Support Forces, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Flag Lieutenant/Aide de Camp for then VADM Phil Davidson, and worked primarily out of Naples, Italy, and Lisbon, Portugal.

LCDR Findlay proceeded to VFA-137, the Kestrels, onboard NAS Lemoore, Calif., for his Department Head tour. As a Kestrel, LCDR Findlay deployed aboard the USS George Washington (CVN 73) on the 2015 South Seas Deployment and the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) on its 2017 7th Fleet deployment supporting the Korean Operating Area mission. LCDR Findlay then attended an in-residence graduate education program at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA acquiring a Masters of Business Administration with a focus on Defense Systems Acquisition.

CDR Findlay reported to VFA-151, the Vigilantes, as the Executive Officer in August 2020 and then assumed the duties as Commanding Officer in September 2021 and led his squadron on a 7th Fleet deployment which concluded with supporting Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercises in 2022 aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.  He relinquished his command of VFA-151 in January 2023, then proceeded to NAS Lemoore, Calif., as the Executive Officer.

Commander “Lou” Findlay has logged over 3,300 flight hours, 800 carrier arrested landings and 48 combat sorties. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal and other personal, service, unit, and campaign awards.
