CMDCM Monica J Kuhl

Command Master Chief (AW/SW/FMF) Monica J. Kuhl is a native of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Following the completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois in June of 2000, she reported to Religious Program Specialist (RP) “ A” School in Meridian, Mississippi and continued on to Chaplain and Religious Program Specialist Expeditionary Skills Training at Camp Johnson, North Carolina.

In April of 2001 she reported to her first duty station in Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Okinawa Japan. During her tour she served as a staff RP. Her follow-on tour at 3D Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Miramar in San Diego California from 2002-2005, where she deployed to Iraq in 2003 and Germany in 2004 as squadron RP in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and advanced to Petty Officer Third Class.

In 2005, she reported to 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton California, where she served as the Headquarters Battalion RP.  She was temporarily assigned to 9th Communication Battalion and 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, where she deployed for the second time to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and advanced to Petty Officer Second Class.

In 2007, She reported to Recruit Division Commander School in Great Lakes Illinois. During this tour, she served as a Recruit Division Commander where she turned over 800 Recruits into Sailors and was advanced to Petty Officer First Class.

In 2010, she reported to USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in San Diego, CA where she served as the Leading Petty Officer of Religious Ministries Department. During her tour, Master Chief Kuhl assisted in the ship's homeport change to Bremerton, Washington and was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

Master Chief Kuhl then reported to USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) homeported in San Diego, California where she served as Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer for Religious Ministries Department and deployed in 2012.

In January 2014, she reported to Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington D.C. where she was promoted to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and subsequently transferred to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO ZERO (VX-20) in October 2016 as the Command Senior Chief.  She was promoted to Master Chief in July 2017 and served the Sailors of Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FOUR SEVEN (VFA-147) NAS Lemoore from May 2018 to May 2020, followed by tours as Command Master Chief for Strike Fighter Wing Pacific in Lemoore, California,PERS-4 Command Master Chief/Command Senior Enlisted Leader Detailer and her current position as NAS Fallon Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Kuhl is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and the CMC/COB course in August of 2016. Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (4 awards), Good Conduct Medal (7 awards), Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and various other campaign, unit and service awards.
