Command Master Chief for Navy Region Southwest Transient Personnel Unit

Command Master Chief Alberto A. Torres is a native of New York, NY.  He enlisted in the Navy in December 1998 and completed Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Chicago, Illinois.  Following completion of basic training, he reported to the USS Avenger (MCM-1) in Ingleside, Texas, where he completed Mineman “A” school and served as a Mine Neutralization Systems Technician/Operator.

Torres’ additional sea duty assignments include LCS Mine Warfare Mission Detachment Two embarked onboard USS Detroit (LCS 7), USS Champion (MCM 4), USS Devastator (MCM 6) and USS Gladiator (MCM 11).  During these fleet assignments he deployed on multiple occasions to FIFTH Fleet areas of responsibility in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  Additionally, he served onboard the USS Scout (MCM 8) as a Tactical Action Officer and Mine Warfare Evaluator.  While onboard Scout, he temporarily served as the Senior Enlisted Leader and was selected to Command Senior Chief.  He later went on to serve as Command Senior Chief onboard USS Omaha (LCS 12) and was selected to Command Master Chief while serving onboard USS Montgomery (LCS 8).  While serving as the CMC onboard Montgomery his crew members were awarded the FY22 Battle Effectiveness Award.  In March 2023 he reported to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron THREE FIVE and are the proud recipients of the 2024 Battle Effectiveness and Arleigh Burke Awards.  

His shore duty assignments include Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity in Ingleside, TX and Afloat Training Group (ATG) San Diego, California, where he qualified as an Afloat Training Specialist and Master Training Specialist. 

Master Chief Torres’ current assignment is Command Master Chief for Navy Region Southwest Transient Personnel Unit.

Torres is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist insignia. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Class 205 and the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 217.  

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
