CMDCS (SW/AW/IW) Vena S. Ramirez was born in Detroit, Michigan and later relocated to Atlanta, GA. She enlisted in the United States Navy in October 2001 and attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois. After completion of Basic Training, she reported to Yeoman “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi.
CMDCS Ramirez holds a Master of Science Degree in Management from Excelsior College. In 2012, she was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. In 2017, she was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer, and in February 2021, she was selected as a Command Senior Chief. She is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 189/Green Group) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 080).
Her Flag Writer assignments include Flag Writer for Commander, Rear Admiral Patrick Brady and Vice Admiral David H. Lewis, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego, California, which is now the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command; Flag Writer for Deputy Commander, Vice Admiral David Kriete, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska; and Flag Writer for U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF), Norfolk, Virginia.
Her operational assignments include Administrative Leading Petty Officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit Eleven, Whidbey Island, Washington; Commanding Officer’s Administrative Leading Petty Officer, USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77) homeported in Norfolk; and Administrative Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron 213 (VFA-213), Oceana, Virginia.
Her shore assignments include Commanding Officer’s Administrative Assistant, Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine; and Recruit Division Commander, Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, where she received the 8RDC NEC and was selected for the Recruit Division Commander Distinguished Leadership Award.
Her personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (5th Award), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, and the Military Outstanding Service Medal (2nd Award), as well as many other campaign awards.
