Naval Base San Diego Command has the following departments:

These departments report directly to the Commanding Officer, Naval Base San Diego and are available to help guide personnel with any questions or points of contact they might need.

The Command Judge Advocate (CJA) is the legal advisor to the Commanding Officer, Naval Base San Diego, in the following areas: military justice matters (Non-Judicial Punishments, Courts-martial, and all related discipline matters), legal administrative issues (separations, JAGMAN investigations, line of duty determinations), civil law (service of process, delivery of personnel, base privilege suspension/barring orders), Freedom of Information Act, congressional inquiries, and ethics.

 

The CJA also provides legal advice to base tenant commands and sea-going commands home ported at Naval Base San Diego.

The Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) Inspector General (IG) is a staff billet with reporting responsibility directly to the NBSD Commanding Officer.  The IG receives, assesses and investigates a variety of complaints and Congressional inquiries involving several major Department of the Navy programs, which include acquisition, financial management, engineering, program management, logistics, automated information systems, military and civilian personnel management, safety, environmental concerns and ethics.  The Inspector General also screens incoming Hotline complaints for elements of fraud, waste and mismanagement, and ensures such complaints are clearly and concisely stated, as well as handled discretely.  The IG’s guiding principle is to support Naval Base San Diego in maintaining the highest level of integrity and public confidence.

The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) provides public affairs advice to the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer and base staff as it relates to daily events, community issues and media coverage.  The PAO is the point of contact for all media queries, community relations and other public affairs functions that are the responsibility of the base.
