WELCOME ABOARD!  Congratulations on your selection for assignment to the staff of Navy Region Southwest Transient Personnel Unit (TPU)!   Our mission is to support operational units and the Navy personnel of the Pacific Fleet. We ensure that personnel who are currently enroute to a new duty station, awaiting orders, pending separation or in a disciplinary or legal-hold status are processed efficiently and effectively.  Your tour on board will be a challenging, interesting, and rewarding experience in your Navy Career.

When you arrive, you should report to TPU administrative office (open from 0700 - 1600 Monday - Friday) located on the east wing, Brunton Hall, Building 3142. Report in Service Dress Uniform and bring PT gear and NWUs for further check in processing.  If you arrive after normal working hours or on the weekend, report to TPU Command Duty Officer (CDO).   The TPU Quarterdeck is clearly marked at the south end of Building 3142. If you have any questions or problems, you may call the TPU CDO at any time at (619) 556-3182 or DSN 526-3182.

TPU Duties
TPU processes over 4,000 transient Sailors annually and manages the barracks that house them.  We are a 24/7 operation. There are many types of duties you can be assigned to.  Once you check aboard, your background will be assessed along with command requirements to find you the best job.  We also have a proactive assignment rotation policy; so, throughout your tour you will most likely get to assume several different positions.
